The Royal Court of the Golden Spike Empire performs at the Snowball, a charity event featuring dinner and performances, at the Leona Wagner Black Box Theater.

For Mark Fordham, going to the Dark Side has helped a lot of people. Fordham, a 51-year-old tech-support guy from Provo, spends much of his free time making appearances for charity in his homemade, but quite authentic-looking, Darth Vader costume. “We call it bad guys doing good things,” Fordham said.

Ballet West’s “The Nutcracker” celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, making it the longest-running full production in the Western Hemisphere. Choreographed by Ballet West founder, Willam Christensen, “The Nutcracker” returns for 23 matinee and evening performances from Dec. 10 through Dec. 27.
