It\u2019s easy to mistake high school policy debaters as auctioneers in training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two-partner teams talk so fast, it\u2019s often incomprehensible to an untrained ear. Debaters do speed drills to practice speaking, or \u201cspreading,\u201d as quickly and articulately as possible. The purpose is to jam as many arguments into a speech before the timer goes off.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
